Educating the next generation

Our hands-on teaching help students build practical skills in a safe and supportive environment—learning to use tools confidently, design their own creations, and produce everything from toys to useful everyday items. This direct teaching experience also gives us valuable insight into how children learn and use spaces, enabling us to design environments that are practical, engaging, and truly tailored to their needs.

After School Clubs

Our after-school woodworking clubs bring creativity to life, giving children the chance to design and make wonderful toys and useful products while learning to use a wide range of tools safely. These hands-on sessions build confidence, encourage creativity, and help develop practical skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Class Projects

Very proud to have helped Salway Ash Primary build its Borrow Me Beach Box as part of a @dfcworld project. The purpose of the box is to encourage people to reuse beach equipment. Many visitors to Dorset buy beach toys, body boards, and other plastic items for their holiday and often leave or discard them as space is limited in their cars on their return home. Our goal in this partnership is to promote and facilitate the reuse of these beach items through the Borrow Me Box.

The class has constructed and decorated the structure themselves. Together we installed the box in a prominent location on the beach here at Freshwater. In the long run, it is hoped that this initiative will reduce plastic waste helping to protect our environment and the stunning coastline of Dorset.

Supporting the Salway Ash School Design For Change project has been a pleasure. We believe that The Borrow Me Beach Box is a fantastic step towards helping visitors to Dorset reduce landfills, protect our coastline, and consciously reduce the use of short-life-cycle plastic beach items.

Please help us support this and place your unwanted beach items that could be used again in the box.
